Robert Dawson, signing books Welcome to my website. I'm a children's writer, a retired head teacher (but still an educationalist), someone with half a century's interest in Britain's Traditional Travelling people and their families. So those are the things you'll find on this site.

I have the honour to be president of the Romany and Traveller FHS, am a member of various Romany and Traveller societies and organizations including the Essex based Gypsy Council, and last year was given a life-time achievement award at the Pride Not Prejudice conference, an honour which meant a huge amount to me.

I am a small one-person publisher of books by and about Traditional Travellers - British Romany Gypsies, Scottish and Irish Travellers – where the books add to the previous knowledge. This section gives books currently in print.
