The Visit of the Gypsies
Scarce. The Visit of the Gypsies by Sachaverell Sitwell, published 1929, 1st ed.
In the book, Sitwell describes various aspectds of Mediaeval thought and art. One section deals with a 15th C tapestry depicting Gypsies at a hunting scene. The men have turbans and the women busy thesmelves trying to tell fortunes to the hunters. The book describes the tapestry in detail;. There is no picture of it in the book but a scanned picture of it has been placed in the book.
The book has been subjected to damp in the past and the yellow cloth binding is stained and this extends to a few pages inn the book. There is also slight foxing and the spine is split and loose at one point. Normally this book would be much more expensive but is cheap because of its faults.
The picture here is of the title page.
